Towards progressive & experiential learning
BK Birla Centre for Education is a world class Senior Secondary Co- Ed Day cum Boys Residential CBSE affiliated School and follows the CBSE/NCERT syllabus. In the world at present, being technologically literate has become a necessity. We provide equipment for students to brush up their IT skills and for juniors to get started with computers.
We believe that education must not only open a person’s mind to the world, but also instil a sense of modernity and progress.
In experiential, project based and activity based learning, the primary focus is on the following:
- Application of theoretical knowledge in daily activities
- Learning by doing
- Encouraging creative and innovative thoughts and ideas
- Researching, surveying, data analysis, data accumulation, comprehending, presenting and communicating
We provide our students with more than what they need to develop future-readiness. They get trained to handle everything.
Classrooms
We, at the Birla centre aim to give each one of ourstudentsquality education. As a step towards this purpose, we have installed world-class infrastructure in the classrooms where our students spend approximately half of their day.
To bring abstract and theoretical concepts to life, BKBCE has smart classrooms that are equipped with the latest digital technology of Tata Senses Board. Teachers prepare learning aids at the teacher resource centre, which can be accessed in the classrooms and projected on smart boards. The school also has a data server where a backup is maintained of all files saved across all computers.
Our school has a number of labs and activity centres equipped to foster curiosity in the mind of Birlites. Each facility is planned in a way that introduces students to learning beyond textbooks, inviting them to enquire and discover the joys of learning.
Laboratories
We believe that all textbook learning shall be accompanied with hands-on experiences. To this end, the school is equipped with three well-equipped science laboratories in its campus. Students are encouraged to visit laboratories for simplified learning and understanding. Physical experiments are employed to enhance the process of learning and allow students the opportunity to experiment. Our students have taken up various projects that have won accolades at regional and national level science exhibitions organised by the CBSE board.
Being a core subject in the school’s curriculum till Class X, sciences are taught to all pupils. Later, students can choose from the different disciplines offered according to their interests. Teaching science calls for innovative methods and our highly advanced chemistry, biology and physics laboratories serve as valuable means of enhancing teaching and developing a passion for the subject. Supervised practical sessions in laboratory encourage interested students to undertake a considerable amount of personal project work as well. Our laboratories help students to develop pragmatic logic and rationale, and equip them to make scientific arguments.

Art and craft
India is a country rich in culture and this can be seen in the crafts room at B.K Birla Centre for Education. The school has two art labs- One dedicated to sculpting, and the other to fine arts, both decorated with handiworks prepared by the students under the able guidance of our Art teachers. Every student has a session a week, apart from the students who take it up as part of their hobby club. Students are encouraged to explore various traditional craft-based skills including woodwork, aeromodelling, clay modelling and the traditions of different states of India.
Along with the visual arts, we also have a Music room equipped with everything to teach students vocal and instrumental music. The Photography club encourages students to capture the natural beauty in everyday scenes and objects, while Moviemaking is popular amongst the students as seen in the recent movie our school made about the great Indian martyr Khudiram Bose and his sacrifice for our freedom. Poetry and Prose are also given importance; students write and submit their pieces to the Editorial team for evaluation and print in our school annual publication ‘BIRLAECHO’..
At the Annual Day and annual exhibition, all the paintings, murals, wall decorations and all other kinds of craft prepared by students are exhibited. Apart from this, the school also organises frequent art shows.
School uniform
As is the custom in Indian schools, we at BKBCE provide students with uniforms to promote equality and unity amongst peers. Students have 3 different uniforms to be worn at different times of the day- the school uniform with the classic white collared shirt and grey formal pants along with grey socks and a tie, the sports uniform with a stylish Birlite shirt or the coloured House t-shirts along with school or civilian shorts, and the Prep uniform with a comfortable Blue collared shirt and black trousers for juniors, and a grey shirt with jeans for seniors. On Sundays and in their free time, students wear clothes as they please.
