14 Birlites, along with their Teacher Escort – Mr. Ashish Bhardwaj, went on a tour to South-Africa for 13 days. They were accompanied by one tour operator from Mumbai.
On 3rd November 2017, the group left from the school for the Mumbai International Airport. On the way, students had dinner at the Monteria Resort. They arrived at the Mumbai International Airport at around 01:00 am. After the check-in process the group boarded the flight at 04:00 a.m.
Day 1:- Students reached Abu Dhabi airport at 10:00 a.m. The halt was only for two hours and after a long journey, the group reached the O.R. Tambo International Airport at Johannesburg at 4:00 pm. They were welcomed by their local tour guide Mr. Jarek who took the team to an Indian restaurant – The Taste of India. Students enjoyed Indian food. After dinner, the group reached the hotel-The Road Lodge Randburg. Students were given a warm welcome by the hotel staff.
DAY 2:- On day 2, the students had breakfast at the hotel and were ready for the activities of the second day. The group headed straight to the Sun City Theme Park (Valley Of The Waves) and had a delightful time in the water park. They had lunch at Sun City Park and returned by evening. The day ended with a sumptuous dinner at an Indian Restaurant after which the group reached their hotel to call it a day.
DAY 3:- On the third day, the group went to the Lion Park Safari at the Lion Park. They got to witness the life and abode of lions and how they live in a family. During the safari, students were in an open vehicle in the forest. They enjoyed a lot and also got an opportunity to touch the cubs. Students had lunch at the Lion Park and proceeded to the Lesedi Cultural Village. They had one night’s stay at Lesedi Village Hotel where the students got the opportunity to know the African culture along with its history, dance, and music. At dinner, they relished the African Cuisine after which they went off to sleep.
DAY 4:- On the fourth day, the group departed for Pilanesberg National Park Safari. After two hours of journey, they arrived at Pilanesberg National Park and a very adventurous Jungle Safari started in the open, giant African forest. There, the students spotted giraffes, elephants, deer, zebras, ostriches, hippos, rhinoceroses, and many other wild animals and birds. In the evening, they came back to the hotel and enjoyed dinner at the Indian restaurant.
DAY 5:- On the morning of the next day, they reached the Lanseria International Airport at 7:00 a.m. to fly for Cape Town. At 11:30 am, they reached the city of Cape Town that is undeniably one of the most beautiful cities in the world with an extremely pleasant weather. Next, they stopped over at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront Mall. Birlites had an enjoyable day shopping at the mall. In the evening, they reached an Indian restaurant & enjoyed the Indian food. And finally they checked into their abode for the night at the Hotel Road Lodge N1 City.
DAY 6:- The next morning, after the breakfast at the hotel, the students along with their Escort Teacher were ready to visit The Table Mountain which is one of the New Wonders of the World. Students enjoyed Cable Car ride on way to the Table Mountain. After that they got started with the Cape Town City Tour during which the students visited most famous places of city. This day ended on a memorable note and the group retired into their rooms after a mouth-watering dinner.
DAY 7:- On the seventh day, the students got ready to visit the Cape of Good Hope & Penguin Colony. And after a two hours journey they reached the Cape Point Light House on the sea shore. It is, indisputably, the most beautiful sight in South Africa. On the left side, there lies the Indian Ocean & on the right side, is the Atlantic Ocean. It was a treat to watch the confluence of the two oceans.
Next, they started for the Cape of Good Hope, another beautiful place in Cape Town and after lunch everyone went to the Penguin Colony. Students were thrilled to see live penguins at the beach and enjoyed the evening with a view of the gigantic Atlantic Ocean. They headed back to the hotel after dinner.
DAY 8:- On the 8th day students were ready for an Adventure Activity at High Africa Adventure Camp. After a long journey, they reached the High Africa Adventure Camp for adventurous activities. Students were engaged the entire day with diverse adventure activities. They enjoyed a lot and after a long tiring day, returned to the Hotel. On the same night, students started packing for their return journey to India.
DAY 9:- On the 9th day, the group got ready to leave Cape Town with delightful memories. At around 11:30 a.m., the group flew for Johannesburg and on the same day, in the evening from Johannesburg Airport, they left for the Mumbai International Airport.
DAY 10:- The group finally reached our very own Mumbai Airport at 12:30 p.m. after which they started their journey to the school with a small stop over for lunch at Monteria Resort. In the early evening, the group returned safely to their nest, their second home – the BKBCE School Campus with a bouquet of remarkable reminiscences.
