On the occasion of our nation’s 69th Independence Day, the students and staff of the BK Birla Centre of Education gathered to honour the national flag and witness a colourful cultural programme.
The programme started with the unfurling of the tricolour by our school principal, Dr SK Sanyal. This was followed by a delightful presentation of cultural events. The school choir presented a medley of patriotic songs followed by a Hindi skit. In the end, a few representatives of the admin and teaching staff presented a mesmerising musical extravaganza consisting of many old and new patriotic melodies.
Everyone paid homage to the countless freedom fighters who made this day possible. Students presented a melange of patriotic activities, which created an atmosphere of national pride. Children danced to the tunes of patriotic songs dressed up in saffron, white and green.
The occasion was graced by the presence of eminent theatre activist, media analyst and writer, Mr Parnab Mukherjee. He shared with all, the true motive of celebrating this day. He urged everyone to celebrate the Indian within ourselves, each day of the year. He reminded everyone of the lesser known, almost forgotten heroes of the Indian freedom struggle. His words inspired all present, and every Birlite pledged to do their bit towards empowering our incredible and diverse motherland.
