Students are encouraged to participate in activities that help them imbibe valuable lessons in social development and responsibility all through their scholastic career.
Activities like outdoor sports, indoor sports, yoga, sculpture, theatre, and horticulture promote all-round development. With four sports teachers and three visiting professors, BK Birla Centre offers its students more than 11 sports to choose from. Accordingly, the school has two open sports grounds, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a swimming pool, a horse-riding ground, three tennis hard courts and an Olympic-size skating rink that supports various sports.
From outdoor games like cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, and lawn tennis to indoor games like badminton, skating, table tennis, chess and carrom to activities like horse riding, swimming, snooker and music – all form part of the school calendar. Every day students have an hourly session of sports, where they are trained in two sports activities of their choice, apart from swimming, which is a compulsory activity. Apart from this, students are encouraged to participate in sports after school hours and on the weekends. Jogging and yoga form an integral part of a student’s daily physical education training.
Students participate in the annual CBSE sports meet and other inter-school events, apart from various inter-house sports events held on campus. It also hosts a 15-day sports camp – Guru Dronacharya Khel Mela – that focuses on providing intensive training in a variety of sports.
Apart from outdoor and indoor games, students are also encouraged to take up hobbies. Eight hobby clubs, finalised on the basis of preferences of our students have been established. Hobby club sessions are held every Saturday for an hour.
Music forms a vital part of student life at the BK Birla Centre. Each student undergoes a training session of an hour every week. They have the option to choose from a wide range of Indian and Western instruments and also practice vocal music.
