BK BIRLA CENTRE FOR EDUCATION

SARALA BIRLA GROUP OF SCHOOLS

SENIOR SECONDARY CO-ED DAY CUM BOYS' RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL

Affiliations

Our school aims at impartingquality education to our students. For this purpose we provide varied learning experiences and opportunities. We are affiliated with various institutes to give plenty of growth opportunities to our students.

The Global Education and Leadership Foundation (tGELF)

tGELF is a programme initiative of The Nand&JeetKhemka Foundation whose vision is to nurture young ethical leaders who will be future agents of change. tGELF has a unique value-based curriculum, expert training and world-class assessments, which it implements across 75 schools pan-India, to 500,000 students and now in six countries. They identify future leaders and nurture them on their journey to success. At BK Birla Centre for Education, we will be implementing the Life Skills & Leadership Programme for students of Class VIII and IX, which is a long-term sustained leadership intervention, focussing on embedding a culture of ethical leadership.

The International Award For Young People

The Award’s concept is one of individual challenge, giving young people a balanced, non-competitive programme of voluntary activities, which encourage personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility to themselves and service to their community. The students in the age group 14-25 years can participate in four mandatory activities: Service, Adventurous Journey, Skills and Physical Recreation.

Bharat Scouts and Guides

The purpose of scouting and guiding is to develop the inherent potential of the young people by providing them a number of structured activities in order to make them physically, mentally, socially, spiritually and emotionally strong and useful citizens of the nation. This is achieved through a combination of activities and programmes offered at the Unit level and a structured syllabus which offers programmes and activities through a progressive Advancement Scheme. In our school, we will be starting with two Scouts Units for boys of Class V and VIII.

American Field Services—Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study

American Field Services (AFS) — Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organisation that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. The essence of any AFS programme is ‘Stay and Study’ in a different cultural setting. Participants live with a host family experiencing home and family life that is in many ways different to their own culture and routine. They have several short-term, class exchange and teacher exchange programmes that are available for the students and teachers of BK Birla Centre for Education.

Youth for Understanding India

The organisation provides opportunity for students to explore other nations and cultures, master new languages, and discover themselves. This affiliation provides young students at the school between the ages 15 to 18 a variety of intensive international exchange opportunities. The aim is to reduce prejudice, moderate conflict, and reinforce cooperation among people.

NIOS - National Institute of Open Schooling

NIOS is “Open School” to cater to the needs of a heterogeneous group of learners up to pre-degree level. It was started as a project with in-built flexibilities by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 1979. In 1986, the National Policy on Education suggested strengthening of Open School System for extending open learning facilities in a phased manner at secondary level all over the country as an independent system with its own curriculum and examination leading to certification.

“I can proudly say that the 9 years (2004-2013) spent in the school are the best years lived so far. The learnings are invaluable and a must for every child in order to excel outside the school. The discipline and skills you acquire from your tenure in school, cannot be put to words but can surely make you stand apart from people once you are in the real world – that is the true gift I got from BKBCE. A Birlite will always realize the learnings from school once they start interacting with the outside world. The friendships taught us the true importance of a relationship. The discipline only made us wise and taught us to operate efficiently. The overall experience made us strive for excellence and at the same time being compassionate, kind and lovable. The foundation laid in the school made us a better person today and in all our achievements.”

BKBCE is the best place imaginable for our child, and we absolutely love it!! Our son is in 10th grade and has been attending BKBCE the past four years. We have been pleased to witness his remarkable and consistent development over these last years. Simply put, he is learning to ‘THINK BIG’.
T = Talent & Time: recognizing talents and cultivating them
H = Hard Work: investing time and refusing to settle for less than the best
I = Insight: learning from everyone around us
N = Nice: being humble, respecting elders, and lifting younger peers
K = Knowledge: the key to becoming invaluable
B = Books: by reading we can learn just about anything
I = In-depth Learning: building on prior understanding by adding new information; working at core concepts until mastered
G = Growth: seeking improvement in all aspects of life

This school is a perfect blend of academics and personal development. To encourage well-roundedness BKBCE offers extracurricular activities, including a hobby course in which the teachers cultivate a hobby of the student’s choice. For our son, this has been an exceptional opportunity to improve his debate skills. Because of the time and energy the teachers at BKBCE have invested in our son, he has been able to perform in debate on a global level. His success is largely a product of the discipline and values he learned from the staff at BKBCE. In addition, the staff has been extremely generous of their free time. I’m a mother living overseas, so it’s important to me to be able to communicate with the teachers. They’ve spoken with me outside of business hours and have gone above and beyond in ensuring that I’m as informed as possible in terms of my son’s progress and needs.

I can’t give enough credit to the wholehearted, joyful, and exuberant involvement of the school principal, Dr. Sanyal, and all the teaching and non-teaching staff who have done so much for us. We are thankful to each and every one of them!
